IS fighters besiege crucial Syrian air base
Muslim militants pushed forward on a major military air base in eastern Syria capturing a nearby village in an attempt to take one of President Bashar Assad's last outposts in a province that borders Iraq. Clashes continued for the second day around the air base just outside the contested eastern city of Deir el-Zour. Fighters from the Islamic State group captured the strategic village of Jafra reaching the fence of the sprawling air base.
New York prepares for man's funeral after second day of protests
Thousands of protesters clogged streets in New York and other major US cities for a second straight night to condemn police killings of young black suspects. More than 200 people were arrested in Thursday's rallies, most of them for disorderly conduct. The largely peaceful demonstrations came as details emerged of another racially tinged death. America's largest city of 8.4 million again saw bursts of outrage after a grand jury on Wednesday decided not to indict a white officer for the death by chokehold of an unarmed black father-of-six. Simon Marks reports.
Department of Justice rules cops in Cleveland use excessive force
Police in Cleveland, Ohio do have pattern of using excessive force - that's the result of a year-long study recently completed by the Department of Justice. Cleveland was recently the site of the fatal shooting of 12 year old Tamir Rice, who was playing outside with a fake gun when he was killed by an officer. This is merely one in a string of high profile, racially charged incidents involving the police across the country. Attorney General Eric Holder cited a variety of factors that are contributing to a dysfunctional police culture in Cleveland. (cut)
Canada hopes avian flu is contained to 4 farms
Canadian officials hope an avian flu outbreak has been contained to four quarantined poultry farms in British Columbia. The turkeys and chickens that haven't died from the disease will be euthanized — a total of about 35,000 birds. Canada's chief veterinary officer says agencies are looking for any sign the virus has moved beyond the four farms in the Fraser Valley east of Vancouver.

Like David vs. Goliath, Rick Wiles is a citizen reporter who decided to take on the Big News Media. Starting with a $7,500 donation in May 1999 to launch the first radio program, Rick’s faith in God and steadfast determination has overseen the growth and development of TRUNEWS into an internationally recognized source of credible news and information in a world where nothing seems to make sense anymore. Rick’s professional career was in media marketing and advertising sales. Throughout his early years, God’s hand silently guided him to be in employed in the latest new media. While in his early 20’s, Rick’s first media job was with a new FM radio station in the days when AM was still king.
In 1980, he blazed a path as a pioneer in local cable television advertising when CNN and ESPN were new start-up channels on cable TV. As a sales manager, he launched one of the first cable advertising interconnects in the nation. He was hired in 1984 by the Christian Broadcasting Network as the first National Cable Marketing Manager for the new CBN Cable Network which later became the Family Channel. In 1995, Paul F. Crouch hired Rick as the Marketing Director for Trinity Broadcasting Network where Rick repositioned the TBN brand inside the cable industry – and played an important role in negotiating the early contracts to launch TBN on DirecTV, DISH, and the former PrimeStar DBS systems. Rick resigned from TBN in September 1998 after receiving a dramatic call from God to fulltime ministry.
